Rule Book Changes

Please read the rule book back to front! There are several rule changes and it’s important that everyone be aware of the changes that directly impact you. It is the exhibitor AND parent responsibility to know and understand the rules. If you have any questions please contact the PCJLC 


DRUG TEST RULE REVISION:

H. ALL GRAND AND RESERVE CHAMPION MARKET ANIMALS WILL BE DRUG TESTED. The PCJLC reserves the right to conduct drug tests on any animal exhibited. Tissue, blood and urine samples may be collected. Blood and urine samples will be collected as soon as possible after the Grand and Reserve Champions are selected and/or as required. 


THE SAMPLES WILL BE COLLECTED BY A LICESENSED VETERNARIAN. The sample analysis will occur at Center for TOX Laboratory services inc. for the presence of prohibited substances.


Test samples must be free of any identifiable foreign substance, including drugs, chemicals or feed additives unless otherwise established as permissible by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) or Food and Drug Administration (FDA). There can be no presence of any performance-enhancing based drugs (i.e. including but not limited to, anabolic steroids, diuretics, anti-inflammatories, tranquilizers and pain killers) and/or derivatives thereof in test samples. A drug test fee of $5 per head entered must be paid at the time of entry through the online entry system.

The exhibitor must be present at the time of sample collection. If the exhibitor of the animal is not 18 years of age, a representative must accompany the exhibitor during the time of sample collection. Only the exhibitor and a parent or guardian along with the licensed veterinarian are allowed to be present in the testing area during sample collection.

In the event of a positive result, the exhibitor will FORFEIT ALL PRIZES, PLACEMENTS AND AUCTION MONIES FOR THE CURRENT YEAR. Failure to forfeit prizes, awards and monies will result in a lifetime ban from all future participation of Pinal County Junior Livestock along with their siblings.

IN THE EVENT OF THE FIRST POSITIVE TEST THE EXIBITIOR WILL BE BANNED FROM PARTICIPATING IN ANY PINAL COUNTY JUNIOR LIVESTOCK ACTIVITIES THE FOLLOWING YEAR. THE EXIBITIOR AND ALL DIRECT FAMILY MEMBERS WILL AGREE TO LIFETIME DRUG TESTING OF ANY ANIMAL EXIBITIED IN A PINAL COUNTY JUNIOR LIVESTOCK ACTIVITY AT THEIR OWN EXPENSE.
